Melissa Theresa James was admitted to practice in Jamaica in 2006 and was a partner in the firm until July 2020. She is a graduate of the University of the West Indies where she received a BSc. (Accounting) in 2000. Melissa later received an LL.B.(Hons.) from the University of Liverpool in 2004 and graduated from the Norman Manley Law School in 2006. She also holds a certificate in Mediation awarded by the Dispute Resolution Foundation. Melissa is also a graduate of Nova Southeastern University Broad College of Law and holds a Juris Doctor (Cum Laude).
Melissa’s practice focuses on secured and unsecured debt recovery for major financial institutions and local and overseas companies, estates and property sales and purchases and general real estate transactions.
Melissa is a member of the Jamaican Bar Association and previously held the posts of Assistant Secretary of its executive committee and chair of its Social Affairs and Outreach sub-committee. Melissa is also a member of the American Bar Association.
